Office Space

I have never actually had a space of my own to do my work.  Sure, I took over the living room to knit and crochet, but that was a shared space.  My yarn was always getting everywhere it shouldn't and quite frankly it was a little stressful not to have my things in one place.

Over the past few years the DH and I have been working on remodeling our little home.  It was/is much needed, but that story is for another time.  Part of the new layout included an office for ME.  An honest to goodness space where I could have all my crafty things, desk and computer, and all the happiness I cared to cram in.  :D

I also made myself an end table.  We had ordered some wire for the electrical and it came on a big wooden spool.  Frugality inspired me and I decided this was a great opportunity for a DIY.  The top of the table is a crochet mandala type piece while the bottom/side is a simple stockinette knit stitch.  The bottom and top of the piece is lined with fleece to 1. protect the floors and 3. hide the uneven wood through the crochet part.

I admit, this project was also an opportunity to use up any old yarn dye lots that aren't sold anymore.  As you'll soon see, I still have a lot left!

Kind of like me, my decoration style is a bit well, colorful.  I chose to have a white room or blank canvas if you will where I could splatter a lot of color onto. 

Not with paint, but the items I chose to put in my room.

To the left I knit an ottoman/footstool at serves dual purpose.  I can put my feet up to relax or pull out a blanket that I've stuffed inside!  No need to by any poly-fiber fill for me!  

The DH built shelves in the wall for my yarn storage.  Works pretty well, but it's still quite a mess!

An old bookshelf holds many of my other craft tools, but I'll admit not everything is moved down yet.

Below is my awesome desk area.  I bought my desk on Overstock.com and absolutely love it.  :D  The future will hold a mounted computer screen and some more decorating.

My favorite decoration in the room, though, is my Harry Potter Collection!  <3  It's absolutely perfect and hides the ugly view of under the deck.
