![]() I was surprised to look at my calender and see that today is the last day of November! Where has this month gone? It always seems that holidays go quickly, maybe that's because we're having fun being festive and being with family. I know I had a spectacular time with my extended family over Thanksgiving. Three generations under one roof is so much fun! I got to spend some special time making pies with my Great Aunt -- and she's a wonderful pie maker, so I'm learning tricks of the trade from the family's best! I also got to bond with cousins that I didn't get to know much growing up, but are now getting to know each other better. Since we have moved away from family, these times are a treasure for me. I hope you were able to have similar experiences and have many more in the coming month. Since the month is over, the sale I've been having this month is almost over, too! I make these beautiful barrettes as I've mentioned in an earlier post. The sad thing is, the sale ends today! So, if you'd like a super, homemade gift for a special girl or lady in your life head over to my Etsy shop. Just click on the picture and it will take you there. ^_^ I'm also willing to give you the sale price if you special message me today for your specific order!

![]() I am an absolute lover of winter scarves. I don't wear the cloth, fashion ones, simply the warm fuzzy ones while it's cold. I actually attempted collecting a scarf for each country I went to during the few trips I had over seas. I only ended up with England and Germany, an utter failure. Oh well! Now I know how to make my own. Scarves are a great way to start out learning how to knit. I actually started learning to knit by making a scarf (which I actually never did finish). I practiced the simple knit stitch to begin. If you repeat that stitch back and forth, you will create what is called a garter stitch. The opposite of the knit stitch is the purl stitch. Alternating the purl stitch with the knit stitch (ex. row 1 purl, row 2 knit, row 3 purl, ect.) you will create what is called a stockinette stitch. The beautiful thing about scarves is that you don't really need a pattern to make one. Just simply use your favorite stitch, knit it as wide as you want, and as long as you want! Most stitch patterns are just a combination of the knit and purl stitches. Some require a few more elements, but are rarely hard. Here's a website for some fun stitches that I enjoy: New Stitch a Day If you're not a knitter, you can find some beautiful scarves that I will be adding to through the winter months in my Etsy Store. If you have a special request, I am more than happy and capable to make what you need. Message me here on Weebly or through Etsy! ![]() Welcome to November everyone! I hope your Halloween festivities were fine and dandy, and that you stayed safe. I was at home, watching the trick-or-treaters across the street have their fun. They don't come to our house because they'd have to cross a busy rode, which I almost got hit by an influenced driver one morning during a walk (I no longer walk alone). So, the position of our home just isn't conducive to having cute kiddos come ask for a treat! It makes me sad. Anyway, I figured I would start doing monthly promotional sales in my shop, after only a month of having it open. I didn't run any type of opening sale, so I figure this will probably supplement that fact. Here's my first month's sale item: the 5 inch Felt Flower Barrettes for 5 Dollars each! This makes them 50% off. I think they're super cute. What do you think? I make them out of wool felt. I tried the acrylic and then tried the wool. I found out through this experience that the wool is much, much easier to work with. It cuts better and glues better. Plus, it's a thicker material to work with which allows it to hold up better by itself. I also like the color options I get with the wool. There are many more colors I'd like to add, but for now I have these five beautiful colors: Pistachio Ice, Ruby Red Slippers, Banana Cream, Purple Sage, and Tropical Wave. If you'd like to find out more and seem more pictures, click on the the picture in this post and it will take you to the shop. You can find all but one of the barrettes in the featured area of the shop (Etsy only allows four items to be in that section). Go ahead a buy it now, they're only available for this price during the month of November! They'd be great birthday or holiday gifts. |
