![]() Lately I've been on a mission to learn new techniques in crochet (and knitting). Crocheting with a light thread rather than yarn is something I've always contemplated. I've walked by the display in the stores. Fumbled the neat little packages of thread in my hands. Admired the color options now available. Yeah, this is something I needed to learn. So, the other day I picked up a spool of white cotton thread, pulled out my small set of hooks, and went on the look out for patterns on the internet. Boy, is there a plethora of patterns out there! Especially for motif, edging, and lace designs. Most of the ones I found were charts. I couldn't read charts last week, but the designs were so beautiful I had to learn! Today, I have a decent understanding how to read a crochet chart and am pretty proud of it! I'll show you how you can too another day, though. During my play of chart reading and crocheting with thread I decided I could turn edging patterns into beautiful little headbands. The one shown in the picture was my very first attempt! Quite lovely, yes? I posted my project results on Facebook and got a great reception of the idea! So, now I've developed four styles that are now for sale in the Etsy shop. Right now they're in the featured items area and the hair accessories section. Go check them out and purchase one of these beauties!

![]() I took a bit of a hiatus from the blog in the merry month of May. We traveled to my hometown, celebrated birthdays, and got the gardens in. I haven't stopped working completely, though! I work on a new project or two every week. I have become to realize that most of my real work will be done in the winter months -- when I don't WANT to go outside! One of my latest projects has been this ruffled headband. It's a play off of the ruffle pattern I put together, and I do think it looks quite fetching. The beauty of it is that it can fit child to adult heads, because of the elastic band I added. (I have noticed I have troubles with all knit or crochet headbands fitting head sizes, so figured that making them a bit smaller and adding the elastic band is just going to be my thing!) I added the item to the shop today, so if you'd like to purchase one go ahead and do so! There's an additional color in the shop called 'indigo go.' It's pretty flashy! ** Need another color or special request? Just ask!** |
