![]() I've been pretty busy this past month. It's officially garden season which is another one of my passions and, dare I say, vocations! I've been spending a lot of my time out in the sunshine pulling weeds, working the soil, and planting my transplants. My husband and I feel strongly toward growing your own food and growing it organically. We also are beginning to save seed, aiding in the preservation of historic varieties known by the buzz word of 'heirloom.' My husband has a blog as well, dedicating it to our homesteading lifestyle. You can find his blog under MY 'blogs I follow' or here at Shelter Woods. Ironically, he also has an Etsy Shop! It's not quite up and running, though. Keep it in mind, though! We'll have heirloom, organically grown seed for very reasonable prices. I also hope to offer prints of photos from our garden -- probably mostly floral, but who knows!? Gardening hasn't taken up ALL my time, though. I got to make a mother's day gift as a special order for a wonderful person! These crochet roses were part of the gift. I've often wanted to try my hand at flowers, but it seems to me that I have my most motivation through special orders/requests! DO YOU HEAR THAT? If you'd like to see tons more, you should have a consultation with me to get something really special! ;) The roses themselves are completely crocheted. The petal part sits inside a green covering underneath like you'd see in nature. Then I attached the whole rose bud to a wire which allows them to stand up straight. Honestly, I'd love to come up with a variety of flowers and offer them for bridal bouquets, nosegays, corsages, and boutonnieres. Ah, so much I want to do! How's spring in your area? Sunny projects in the making?
